A Two-Day Pop-Up Market from the 13th
Filled with Gift Items like Bugak and Dried Persimmons
Gokseong-gun in Jeollanam-do will open a direct-trade market in downtown Seoul ahead of Seol, the Lunar New Year holiday, to showcase the county's premium local agricultural and specialty products.
Gokseong-gun announced on the 12th that it will operate a "Seol Direct-Trade Market" for two days from the 13th to the 14th at the Samgeori (three-way intersection) at the entrance of Euncheon-ro in Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
The event is designed to directly connect producers and consumers, thereby reducing distribution stages. It aims to help farming households expand their sales channels and increase income, while offering urban residents the opportunity to purchase high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices.
Nine local businesses from within the county will participate in the market. They will showcase more than 50 popular items for ritual offerings and holiday gifts, including taro and Baeksemi rice, which are Gokseong's signature specialties, as well as Bugak (deep-fried vegetable or seaweed snacks), dried persimmons, and grain syrup.
In particular, at this market, producers themselves will stand at the sales counters to explain product characteristics to consumers and guarantee the quality, thereby enhancing trust in the products.
The county expects that, because the market is being held during a period when holiday demand is concentrated, it will not only increase sales for farming households but also help secure a stable consumer base in the future.
A county official said, "We hope this direct-trade market will benefit both urban consumers who feel burdened by rising prices and farming households that are struggling to secure sales channels," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the competitiveness of local agricultural products through various marketing efforts that span both online and offline channels."
