Two Men Die in Succession at Gangbuk Motel... Arrest Warrant Sought for Woman in Her 20s Over Drug-Laced Drinks

Same Woman Suspected in Last Month's Unexplained Death and Assault Cases

A woman in her 20s has been arrested by the police on suspicion of handing drinks laced with drugs to two men in their 20s at a motel in Gangbuk District, Seoul.

Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced on the 12th that it had requested an arrest warrant for a woman in her 20s, identified as A, on charges of causing injury resulting in death and violating the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the police, A is suspected of handing a drink mixed with drugs to a man in his 20s, identified as B, at a motel in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk District, on the 9th, causing his death.

The investigation found that A checked into the motel with B at around 8:30 p.m. that day and left alone about two hours later. B was found dead inside the motel at around 5:40 p.m. the following day.

Responding to a report from a motel employee, the police were dispatched to the scene, identified A through on-site forensics and CCTV analysis, and urgently arrested her at around 9:00 p.m. the same day.

The police believe that A had prepared the drugs in advance and mixed them into the drink before handing it over. During police questioning, A admitted to giving the drug-laced drink but reportedly stated that she "did not know he would die."

The police are also expanding their investigation on the assumption that A is connected to an unexplained death of a man at another motel in Gangbuk District that occurred late last month, as well as to an assault case that took place in December last year.

The victim in the assault case is also said to have reported in late last month, about a month after the incident, that he "lost consciousness after drinking a beverage handed over by A."

The police are investigating A to determine the specific motive and circumstances of the crime, and are also considering whether to conduct a psychopathy assessment.
