Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City is promoting the "Nono Care Exercise Hyo" program, a customized visiting health program for 100 seniors, to support a healthy and active old age.

This program is a visiting health service in which Senior Health Guardians visit the homes of seniors who have relatively few outdoor activities and regularly coach and manage exercises tailored to each individual's health condition. The Senior Health Guardians were selected through a senior employment program and completed job and safety training in January. They will visit seniors' homes once a week to provide guidance on strength training using stretching and small tools such as exercise bands.

Seo-gu District is also working with a local university to enhance the effectiveness of the exercises. Together with students majoring in Senior Exercise Prescription at Gwangju Health University, the district will use scientific indicators to measure and evaluate seniors' basic physical fitness and physical abilities, and will design and provide personalized exercise programs.

The district expects that this project will not only strengthen seniors' health management capabilities and physical functions, but also help alleviate emotional isolation through regular home visits.

The program is open to seniors aged 65 or older who reside in Seo-gu District. Applications can be made by phone to the Care Policy Division of the Seo-gu District Office until February 27.

Seo-gu District Mayor Kim Ikang said, "I hope that through this Nono Care Exercise Hyo program, seniors will receive safe and regular exercise guidance at home and enjoy a healthy old age," adding, "We will continue to expand various integrated care services so that seniors can lead healthy and happy lives within the local community."
