Jang Donghyuk Says No Change in Stance on Yoon and Alleged Election Fraud... "We Must Look to the Future to Win Elections"

On Calls for a Complete Break with Yoon:
"The Seeds of Division... It Cannot Satisfy Anyone"

On February 10, Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, said regarding his stance on the so-called "Yoon Again" slogan and alleged election fraud, "There has been no change in the position I have officially stated so far," adding, "If we want to win the election, we must fight against the Lee Jaemyung administration and put forward a future agenda in a competent way."

Appearing that day on the Munhwa Ilbo YouTube channel, Jang made these remarks after conservative YouTuber Jeon Hangil asked him about his stance on "Yoon Again," alleged election fraud, and related issues. Jang said, "Even before the party convention, I had clearly stated my position on issues that have become controversial, such as martial law, impeachment, a complete break with Yoon, 'Yoon Again,' and alleged election fraud."

Regarding Jeon’s demands, Jang said, "At this point, the only way is to go together with Jang Donghyuk, who is leading the People Power Party, to lend support, and to ask me to resolve that issue."

As for criticism within the party that he should clearly state his intention to completely sever ties with Yoon, Jang said, "No one can be satisfied if we try to resolve the issue of cutting ties just through words. Constantly putting this issue on the agenda only keeps creating seeds of division," adding, "If necessary, if such a situation arises, I will state my position in the language befitting the party leader, as the party leader can, at that time."

He also dismissed the request from "Alternative and Future," a meeting of younger lawmakers within the party, which had called for the withdrawal of the party Ethics Committee’s deliberation on disciplinary action against Bae Hyunjin, head of the Seoul chapter who is classified as being in the pro-Yoon camp, saying, "It is a matter for the Ethics Committee to handle based on principles and standards."

Regarding Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon’s call for his resignation following the expulsion of former party leader Han Donghoon, Jang said, "It is not appropriate for me as party leader to respond to each and every comment. I hope this becomes a time to focus on presenting a vision," adding, "In the (Seoul mayoral) election, the best way to enhance competitiveness is for several candidates with strong competitiveness to run, and for us to select a single candidate through fair competition."
