Uiseong County Council Previews County Administration Report Card

Voyage of the Session Sets Sail on the 8th
Weighing Policy Effectiveness and the Gravity of the Budget

The Uiseong County Council has begun a schedule to confirm the direction of the new year’s administration. The intention is to closely verify priorities and feasibility based on the work plans presented by the executive branch.

Uiseong County Council Previews County Administration Report Card Choi Hoonshik, chairman of the Uiseong County Council, is declaring the opening of the 287th extraordinary session.

From the 6th to the 13th, the county council is holding the 287th extraordinary session to receive reports on key work implementation plans by department. On the first day’s plenary session, the council listened to a report that will serve as a framework for next year’s county administration, and handled the motion to appoint auditors for the settlement of accounts for the 2025 fiscal year.

The key point to watch in this session is the “intensity of scrutiny.” The council members plan to comprehensively examine the progress and outcomes of ongoing projects, the necessity and spillover effects of new projects, and the validity of fiscal management, while focusing on whether the plans can actually lead to changes in residents’ lives.

The standing committee schedule also carries significant weight. The Industry and Construction Committee will review issues that are closely tied to the roots of the local economy, such as rationalizing the management and use system of sports facilities, reorganizing support schemes to ease the burden on farms, and revising the special garlic industry distribution zone plan. Depending on the outcome of the discussions, the perceived impact of policies on the ground is also expected to be considerable.

In his opening remarks, Council Chairman Choi Hunsik said, “The standards we set at the beginning of the year determine the success or failure of the year,” and added, “The council will fulfill its responsibility to refine policies in a direction that provides practical help to residents.”

This extraordinary session, held at the very start of the new year, is closer to a process of realigning the starting point of administration than a simple procedural schedule. Expectations are that the more the council’s scrutiny and proposals are added, the higher the overall completeness of county administration will become.
