Realmeter Poll
President's Approval Rating Up 1.3%p from Last Week
Democratic Party 47.6%, People Power Party 34.9%
President Lee Jaemyung's job approval rating has risen for the second consecutive week. As support for the Democratic Party of Korea also increased, the gap with the People Power Party widened further.
According to a presidential job performance poll released on February 9 by polling agency Realmeter (commissioned by Energy Economy News and conducted from February 2 to 6 among 2,507 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide, using a 100% wireless automated response method, with a margin of error of ±2.0 percentage points at the 95% confidence level and a response rate of 5.2%), President Lee's job approval rating was 55.8%, up 1.3 percentage points from the previous week. The disapproval rating stood at 39.1%, down 1.6 percentage points.
Realmeter analyzed, "It appears that highly tangible livelihood measures such as regulations on speculative multiple-home ownership in the real estate market and price stabilization, along with efforts to revitalize the economy and promote balanced regional development, such as encouraging large corporations to hire and breaking ground on the Southern Inland Railway, have driven the rise in approval ratings." Notably, support in the Gwangju and Jeolla regions jumped by 14.5 percentage points (from 73.0% to 87.5%).
