Chance of overnight snow along the west coast of South Jeolla and on Jeju Island
The severe cold will continue until the morning of Monday the 9th, then temperatures will gradually rise above freezing from the afternoon, bringing milder conditions.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 8th, the morning low on the 9th is forecast to range from -15 to -3 degrees Celsius nationwide, which is lower than the seasonal average (-10 to 0 degrees). Strong winds are also expected, making it feel even colder.
From the afternoon, the cold will ease, with daytime highs forecast to range from 3 to 11 degrees Celsius. Fine dust levels are expected to be between "moderate" and "good" nationwide, and the skies will be mostly clear.
However, strong winds will continue during the day in some areas. Instantaneous wind speeds will reach around 55 kilometers per hour, and the air will be very dry, so extra caution is needed to prevent forest fires.
Overnight, there is a chance of snow along the west coast of South Jeolla Province and on Jeju Island. Expected snowfall is around 1 centimeter on the west coast of South Jeolla, 2 to 7 centimeters in the mountainous areas of Jeju, and around 1 centimeter along the coast.
Waves are expected to range from 0.5 to 3.0 meters off the east coast, 0.5 to 2.0 meters off the west coast, and 0.5 to 1.5 meters off the south coast.
In the outer offshore waters (the offshore area within about 200 kilometers of the coastline), wave heights are forecast to range from 1.0 to 4.0 meters in the East Sea, 0.5 to 3.0 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 3.5 meters in the South Sea.
