Lee Junseok And Jeon Hangil Tentatively Agree To Hold Public Debate On "Election Fraud" On The 25th

Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform New Party, and YouTuber Jeon Hangil, a former Korean history instructor whose real name is Jeon Yugwan, are reportedly set to hold a debate on February 25.

On February 8, an official of the Reform New Party said the two sides had agreed in principle to hold a public debate on alleged election fraud on February 25. From the Reform New Party, only Lee will participate, while Jeon will be accompanied by three people, and the debate is expected to be held in a "one versus four" format. It was reported that discussions are still underway regarding which media outlet will broadcast the debate and how it will be conducted.

Jeon claimed that Lee was elected in the 2024 general election through election fraud, and was sued last month by Lee on charges of defamation for spreading false information.

At a Supreme Council meeting on February 5, Lee said, "I will create an opportunity to put an end, once and for all, to the disgraceful behavior of election-fraud theorists," and proposed a debate to Jeon. He then wrote on Facebook to Jeon, "If you participate in the debate on election fraud, I will consider withdrawing the complaint depending on your sincerity, your proactive attitude, and whether you correct your wrong ideas."

Jeon accepted this during a YouTube broadcast on February 6, telling Lee that "it would be fine to put your parliamentary seat on the line." Jeon, who had been at the forefront of rallies opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, has consistently claimed that there was election fraud in general and presidential elections.

Jeon, who had been staying in the United States for some time, returned to Korea on February 3. He has been accused of spreading false information about President Lee Jaemyung (defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act) and is scheduled to be questioned by the police on February 12.
