Available to elderly people and those with pre-existing conditions
Covers major chronic diseases including cardiovascular, cerebrovascular diseases, and cancer
Emerging as a filial insurance option for children concerned about medical expenses
Simple insurance plans that can be taken out even by elderly people with chronic diseases are drawing attention.
AXA Direct Korea explained on the 6th that its product “(Non-dividend) AXA Simple Comprehensive Insurance (Renewable Type)” allows customers with pre-existing conditions up to the age of 80 to enroll relatively easily through a simplified underwriting process, without complicated document submissions or stringent screening.
.
In fact, according to the “2024 National Health Insurance Statistical Yearbook” jointly published by the National Health Insurance Service and the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, health insurance medical expenses for seniors aged 65 or older in 2024 exceeded 50 trillion won, accounting for 45% of total medical expenses. The average annual medical expense per senior was 5,508,000 won, far surpassing the overall per-capita average of 2,261,000 won.
“(Non-dividend) AXA Simple Comprehensive Insurance (Renewable Type)” bundles coverage for diagnosis, hospitalization, and surgery due to illness, as well as fractures and surgeries due to accidents, into a single product, and allows customers to design their plan by selecting only the necessary coverage options. In particular, it features a special rider that provides broad coverage for cardiovascular diseases, which have a high incidence risk among the elderly.
In the event of a first diagnosis of cerebral hemorrhage, cerebrovascular disease, acute myocardial infarction, or ischemic heart disease, a one-time diagnosis benefit is paid, and if the insured is hospitalized or undergoes surgery due to heart or cerebrovascular disease, daily hospitalization benefits and surgical expenses are also covered.
Cancer coverage has also been strengthened. The plan includes treatment and surgery costs associated with a cancer diagnosis, living expenses, and integrated cancer screening costs, as well as coverage for radiation and drug-based anti-cancer treatments, invasive cancer surgeries, and death from cancer. Through riders for integrated nursing care services and caregiver support, the product is designed to help policyholders prepare not only for medical expenses but also for the financial burden arising during the caregiving process.
A representative of AXA Direct Korea said, “The Lunar New Year holiday is a time when you can review your parents' health and their medical cost burdens, which are easy to overlook in daily life,” adding, “(Non-dividend) AXA Simple Comprehensive Insurance (Renewable Type) can be easily taken out by elderly people and those with pre-existing conditions, and it offers broad protection against diseases with a high incidence risk among the elderly, such as cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and cancer, making it a practical option to safeguard your parents' health and everyday life.”
