Gwangju Urban Corporation to Expand Green Remodeling Project for Permanent Rental Housing

Energy-Saving Effects Confirmed
More Target Units and Larger Project Budget This Year

Gwangju Urban Corporation will expand its green remodeling project for permanent rental housing this year.

Gwangju Urban Corporation announced on the 4th that, as the green remodeling project for permanent rental housing has received a positive response from residents, it plans to expand the scale of the project this year.

In December last year, the corporation completed remodeling work for 250 aging rental housing units in the areas of Usan-dong, Kumho-dong, and Ssangchon-dong, including the replacement of high-performance windows, reinforcement of insulation, and installation of LED lighting.

The corporation explained that, through this project, energy-saving effects such as reducing heating and cooling costs by more than 30% were achieved. It added that residents have continued to evaluate that their residential environment has improved.

On local online communities, residents posted reactions such as, "The insulation problems in the old complex have been greatly improved," and "The living environment, including the kitchen and wallpapering, has become more pleasant."

This year, the corporation plans to invest a total project budget of 4.9 billion won, expand the number of target units by more than 38% compared with the previous year, and simultaneously build gigabit internet infrastructure. Through this, it will also work to improve residents' communication environment. In addition, to minimize inconvenience to residents during the construction period, it will implement a rotational relocation plan using vacant units and operate an on-site civil complaint response team on a constant basis.

Kim Seungnam, President of Gwangju Urban Corporation, said, "The construction data accumulated and resident feedback gathered through last year's project are important assets for the corporation," adding, "This year, we will focus on providing high-quality residential spaces by applying an advanced standard model for remodeling."
