Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival, the representative festival of Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla Province, was finally selected for the second phase (2026-2027) of the "Local 100" program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

"Local 100" is a national program that selects 100 places with distinctive appeal and specialization among local cultural assets, in order to expand opportunities for people to enjoy regional culture and to attract a floating population through nationwide promotion and various linkages.

The final selection was made through public recommendations, online voting, and expert reviews, and Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival received high marks for its linkage with local culture and its cultural and tourism ripple effects.

Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival is held every autumn across the Bulgapsan area, where red Sangsahwa flowers bloom, and is an event in which nature, history, and culture are harmoniously combined. Based on the symbolism of Sangsahwa flowers imbued with stories and the mountain temple culture associated with Bulgapsa Temple, the festival has continuously presented differentiated festival content.

In particular, the festival has moved away from large-scale, stage-centered events and has enhanced contemplative programs and experiential content that can be enjoyed in nature, thereby increasing visitor satisfaction.

With its selection for the Local 100 program, Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival will receive systematic support, including domestic and overseas promotion through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related organizations, provision of online and offline certification plaques, and dissemination of various media content. Through this, the festival is expected to expand its recognition nationwide and further boost local tourism and its positive impact on the regional economy.

An official from Yeonggwang County explained, "This selection for the Local 100 program is the result of Yeonggwang Bulgapsan Sangsahwa Festival being officially recognized for its value as a cultural asset representing the region."
