Kim Hyuntae, the former commander of the Special Warfare Command’s 707 Special Mission Unit, who led troops and infiltrated the main building of the National Assembly during the December 3 martial law and was recently dismissed, claimed that the Democratic Party of Korea knew about the martial law in advance and responded to it.

On the 3rd, through his social networking service (SNS) account, former commander Kim said, "It is gradually being revealed that the Democratic Party knew in advance about former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s martial law, and prepared meticulously to respond," adding, "I agree with this. This is not a conspiracy theory along with election fraud, but the truth that is gradually being uncovered thanks to your efforts."
He also said, "If this is not corrected, the liberal democratic Republic of Korea will inevitably become left-leaning, pro-North Korea and pro-China," and added, "The silent war has already begun. Over the past year, there have been attacks by the enemy, and now it is time for us to counterattack and win by using the truth as our weapon. If we are together with patriotic citizens united by patriotism, we will surely win."
Regarding former Army Special Warfare Commander Kwak Jonggeun, who testified in the Constitutional Court’s impeachment trial and in former President Yoon Suk Yeol’s insurrection trial that "I received an order from former President Yoon to drag out the lawmakers," Kim claimed that he "was used by those who fabricated the insurrection." He also referred to Democratic Party lawmakers Park Beomkye, Kim Byungjoo, Park Sunwon, and Boo Seungchan as "insurrection fabricators," asserting that "unlike former commander Kwak, they targeted me, who did not succumb to inducement."
In addition, he labeled former acting president of the Constitutional Court Moon Hyeongbae and special prosecutor Min Jungki, who investigated allegations related to First Lady Kim Keonhee, as "insurrection fabricators," arguing that "they are trying to brand former President Yoon’s lawful martial law as an insurrection." By contrast, regarding Jeon Hangil, a far-right YouTuber who stated he would cover Kim’s legal fees, Kim said, "In particular, teacher Jeon Hangil, thank you for your strong support," and added, "If I can be of any help, even in a small way, to patriotic YouTubers, I will go anywhere at any time."
Former commander Kim is suspected of leading troops on the day of the December 3 martial law and being involved in the blockade and infiltration of the National Assembly. He was one of those who broke a window and forcibly entered the interior of the National Assembly building. Six days after the martial law, he voluntarily held a press conference and stated that "I received an order to drag out the lawmakers," but he reversed this testimony at the Constitutional Court in February last year. The Ministry of National Defense announced that on the 29th of last month it convened a disciplinary committee for Kim and others who were indicted without detention on charges including engagement in key duties of insurrection, and decided on his dismissal.
In response, on the 30th of last month, former commander Kim said, "It was a shameful disciplinary procedure that turned away from the truth and had the outcome predetermined," and declared, "With the belief that lies cannot defeat the truth, I will fight to the end with confidence." He continued, "As a soldier, I had limitations in fighting fake news, but from now on I will confront lies more actively."
