Gwangyang City to Turn Samhwaseom and Haebichiro Plaza into “Dalbit365” Tourist Hotspot

Creating a Nighttime Tourism Space with Food Trucks, Busking, and a Flea Market

Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced that it will fully launch the “Dalbit365” tourism revitalization project to develop the Samhwaseom and Haebichiro plaza area into a year-round tourist attraction.

The Samhwaseom and Haebichiro plaza area is an urban waterfront space with a view of Yi Sun-sin Bridge, characterized by an atmosphere where visitors can enjoy both the sea and leisure.

With palm trees, wide lawns, and basalt stone walls blending together to create an exotic landscape, and with landscape lighting such as moving lights and media facades added to produce a panorama of lights, the area is expected to transform into an even more attractive space at night.

“Dalbit365” is a name that combines “Dalbit” (moonlight), symbolizing the subtle night view and emotional atmosphere of the Samhwaseom and Haebichiro plaza area, with “365,” meaning year-round operation. The goal is to create an emotional tourism space that citizens and tourists can visit as part of their daily lives.

The city will open “Dalbit365” at the Samhwaseom and Haebichiro plaza area on the 27th and begin a trial operation for about three months. During this period, “Dalbit365 Friday Night,” which will feature a combination of food trucks, a flea market, and busking performances, is scheduled to run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the second and fourth Friday of every month.

Food truck and flea market operators will be publicly recruited in February, and during the trial operation period, the city plans to lower the barrier to participation by offering free booth space.

Gwangyang City plans to create a stay-type tourism space that combines food and attractions around the “Romantic Trail,” where emotional lighting and busking performances come together, and to establish “Dalbit365” as Gwangyang’s representative year-round nighttime tourism content.

An official from Gwangyang City said, “We will do our utmost in operations so that Dalbit365 can take root as an emotional tourism space that both citizens and tourists can comfortably visit in their daily lives,” adding, “Through the trial operation, we will refine the programs and operating methods, and by expanding stay-type content that combines food, culture, and night views, we will continuously strengthen Gwangyang’s competitiveness in nighttime tourism.”
