Enhancing Emotional Social Media Content... Expected to Boost Awareness
Goheung-gun in South Jeolla Province announced on the 4th that it will fully launch the "Discovery of 100 Instagram Zones at Goheung Hot-Place Tourist Attractions" project to respond to photo- and video-centered social media tourism trends and to strengthen the region's tourism competitiveness.
The project aims to create Instagram zones at major tourist attractions in Goheung-gun and locations with high tourist inflows where emotionally engaging photos can be taken, thereby building an environment in which visitors can take their own photos and share them on social media. Through this, the county plans to generate natural online promotional effects and raise awareness of tourism in Goheung.
The total project budget is 2 billion won, and priority will be given to discovering project sites that can support storytelling, such as major tourist attractions by eup and myeon, natural landscapes, and places with cultural or historical significance. Starting with 10 locations in 2026, the county plans to expand the number to 20 locations in 2027 and 70 locations from 2028 onward, reaching a total of 100 locations over five years.
The county government is currently working on identifying candidate sites by eup and myeon and conducting on-site inspections, and plans to proceed with the design and installation of the Instagram zones after finalizing annual target sites. Going beyond simply installing photo spots, the county intends to build differentiated tourism content by applying designs and shooting points that reflect local characteristics and the unique appeal of each space.
A representative of the county’s tourism policy office said, "This Instagram zone discovery project will serve as an opportunity to rebirth the hidden charms of Goheung into new tourism content," adding, "By creating an environment where tourists can directly participate and share their experiences, we will generate natural promotional effects spreading through social media and develop new hot-place tourist attractions that represent Goheung."
