Defense Counterintelligence Command Investigation Headquarters Launches Probe into "Defense Counterintelligence Command Blacklist"

The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 3rd that the Defense Counterintelligence Command Investigation Headquarters has launched an investigation into allegations surrounding the so-called "Defense Counterintelligence Command blacklist."

An official from the Ministry of National Defense stated, "The Defense Counterintelligence Command conducted an intensive internal inspection last year regarding the blacklist-related allegations and took personnel measures against all those involved," adding, "The matter is currently under investigation by the Defense Counterintelligence Command Investigation Headquarters, and we will take stern action based on the outcome."


Previously, the so-called "Choi Kangwook list" was disclosed, which showed that the Defense Counterintelligence Command had compiled and managed a roster of military judges advocate connected to former lawmaker Choi Kangwook, who was an opposition politician during the Yoon Suk Yeol administration. The document contains records of Choi’s activities during his service as a military judge advocate, his activities after discharge, and a list of more than 30 judge advocates said to have ties to him.


The Defense Counterintelligence Command Investigation Headquarters is also reported to have obtained other blacklist documents, in addition to the "Choi Kangwook list," that contain personal information and political orientations of active-duty and retired generals, and has launched an investigation into these as well.
