Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Announces Personnel Appointments for 12,421 Staff Effective March 1
Focus on Appointing On-site Leaders to Carry Forward the Outstanding Achievements of Future Education in Gyeonggi
Appointment of Talents with Practical Capabilities and Responsibility to Implement On-site, Field-centered Education Policies
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Lim Taehee) carried out personnel appointments on February 3 for a total of 12,421 principals and vice principals of schools and kindergartens, teachers, and educational specialists, effective March 1.

In these appointments, the Office focused on firmly embedding in schools the outstanding practices and values of Gyeonggi education that have been recognized worldwide by organizations such as UNESCO, and on assigning personnel equipped with the capabilities and practical leadership needed to spearhead the transition to artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital education.
In particular, to fulfill the historical mission of completing "Future Education in Gyeonggi," it made efforts to continuously promote organizational streamlining centered on on-site support. Through this, it sought to faithfully implement policies that can be tangibly felt in schools, enable teachers to focus on the essential role of education, and actively support student-centered, customized education through these personnel decisions.
The teaching staff appointments cover a total of 11,906 people, consisting of: 17 superintendents (educational research directors) reassigned as principals or kindergarten principals; 11 principals or kindergarten principals reappointed and transferred; 111 principals or kindergarten principals reappointed; 169 principals or kindergarten principals transferred; 42 principals or kindergarten principals promoted upon expiration of open recruitment terms; 244 newly promoted principals or kindergarten principals; 30 principals or kindergarten principals selected through open recruitment; 1 superintendent (educational research officer) reassigned as principal; 1 principal returning to duty; 78 vice principals or kindergarten vice principals transferred; 2 vice principals or kindergarten vice principals returning to duty; 1 superintendent (educational research director) reassigned as vice principal or kindergarten vice principal; 66 supervisors (educational researchers) reassigned as vice principals or kindergarten vice principals; 284 newly promoted vice principals or kindergarten vice principals; 16 master teachers transferred; 34 newly appointed master teachers; 6,901 teachers transferred; 3 principals reassigned as senior teachers; 7 supervisors (educational researchers) reassigned as teachers; 257 teachers returning to duty; 543 teachers transferred in from other cities and provinces; and 3,088 newly appointed teachers.
The educational specialist appointments total 515 people, consisting of: 1 bureau director at the main office; 4 superintendents of education (heads of local education offices); 4 heads of affiliated institutions; 6 division heads at the main office; 4 bureau directors at education support offices; 10 superintendents (educational research directors) at the main office; 20 division heads at education support offices; 2 heads of departments at affiliated institutions and educational researchers; 104 supervisors (educational researchers); 85 newly appointed supervisors (educational researchers); and 275 newly appointed heads of Neulbom-exclusive offices.
Choi Jongcheol, policy chief of Teacher Personnel Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, said, "We have worked to ensure that these appointments focus on pursuing the essence of education, based on the pride that Gyeonggi education has become the standard for the Republic of Korea," adding, "We will continue to strive to realize Future Education in Gyeonggi, which opens up a happy future for students, by establishing a fair and balanced personnel system."
Meanwhile, in consideration of personal data protection and the accountability of educational public officials, the details of the personnel announcements will be posted on the website with the phrase "Use for purposes other than posting prohibited," and will be deleted seven days after the posting date, including the date of posting.
