Livelihood-Oriented Ordinances Draw Attention
The Damyang County Council in Jeollanam-do has begun a 12-day session to review key county government work for the new year and to process livelihood ordinances directly related to residents' daily lives.
According to the Damyang County Council on February 2, the 342nd extraordinary session was convened in the main assembly hall that day.
During this session, the council will receive a report from the executive branch on the "2026 Key Work Implementation Plan" to assess the direction of county administration for the year, and will also review the "2025 Administrative Audit Results." The council plans to conduct in-depth discussions on the overall county administration.
Notably, among the 13 agenda items submitted for this session, the ordinance bills proposed by council members are drawing attention for their direct impact on residents' daily lives.
Key agenda items include: ▲ fostering a culture of dignified end-of-life care, ▲ supporting the installation of ramps at public facilities for pedestrians with mobility challenges, ▲ providing fire prevention and safety facilities for electric vehicle parking zones, ▲ improving urban design for crime prevention, and ▲ ordinances to enhance the parking environment. All of these focus on establishing legal grounds for creating a safe and pleasant living environment.
Jang Myeongyeong, Chairperson of the Damyang County Council, stated, "This extraordinary session is an important opportunity to confirm the blueprint for 2026 and to review safety and welfare policies that residents can truly feel." He added, "In particular, we will do our utmost to review livelihood ordinances that can bring real changes to residents' lives, such as securing mobility rights and implementing safety measures for pedestrians with mobility challenges."
