Enhancing Quality of Life for Local Residents
A Bridge Connecting 13 Towns and Townships
A Vital Source of Energy for the Community
The Haenam-gun Family Harmony Center in South Jeolla Province has established itself as a leading family-friendly welfare hub in rural areas, recording approximately 80,000 annual visitors. According to Haenam-gun on February 2, a total of 83,254 residents used the Family Harmony Center over the course of 2025.
This figure has shown steady growth, starting with 60,775 visitors in its opening year of 2023, rising to 82,180 in 2024, and reaching 83,254 last year. Despite the lack of basic living infrastructure in rural areas, it is believed that the high-quality family-friendly facilities and programs have attracted local residents.

The Haenam-gun Family Harmony Center is a multi-purpose facility with one basement level, four above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 4,237 square meters, equipped with a variety of family support amenities.
On the first floor, the public Haenam Daycare Center and the Together Care Center, which provides after-school care for elementary students, operate year-round, 365 days a year. The second floor features a toy library where toys and event costumes can be rented, a neighborhood cafe serving as a community space, and an indoor playground for children, making it especially popular among families with infants and toddlers.
The third floor houses the Family Center, which offers a range of programs including parental and couple role support, family counseling, and multicultural family relationship improvement. In addition, the Neighborhood Kitchen, which operates a shared parenting space and family cooking programs, is among the most highly rated areas by users.
In particular, the center’s specialized programs have received an enthusiastic response for their diverse offerings. The "Family Coaching School," which supports families growing together with their children, consists of life-stage education and activities for sensory and physical development; last year, more than 1,800 people participated in a total of 90 sessions.
The "Neighborhood Kitchen" program is recognized for providing a space where not only families but also single-person households, young adults, middle-aged participants, and marriage immigrants can communicate and interact through cooking.
Additionally, the "Family Harmony Memory Making" program, which invites residents from 13 towns and townships to experience the facilities and participate in cooking activities, has helped bridge service accessibility gaps between regions and expand the center’s user base.
This year, the county also plans to offer a variety of family participation programs, which can be applied for through the integrated website of the Haenam-gun Family Harmony Center or by contacting the center directly.
A county official stated, "Within just three years of opening, the Family Harmony Center has firmly established itself as the center of happiness for families in Haenam," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure that all kinds of families can visit, care for one another, and communicate together."
