Fire Breaks Out in Five-Story Multi-Family Building in Gwangju, Gyeonggi... Man in His 70s in Critical Condition

A fire broke out in a multi-family residential building in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province during the early morning hours, leaving a man in his 70s in critical condition.


At around 2:45 a.m. on January 31, a fire started in a unit on the second floor of a five-story multi-family residential building located in Sam-ri, Gonjiam-eup, Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province. Responding to a report from a nearby resident, firefighters arrived and managed to fully extinguish the blaze by 3:18 a.m., about 30 minutes after the fire began.


As a result of the fire, a man in his 70s, identified as Mr. A, who lived in the affected unit, was transported to a nearby hospital while receiving CPR. It has been reported that Mr. A remains unconscious and is undergoing treatment.


In addition to Mr. A, five other residents were rescued, while twelve other residents evacuated the building on their own.


The police stated, "We plan to conduct an on-site inspection today to investigate the exact cause of the fire."
