Expansion of Support for Veterans' Allowances, Including Honorary Allowance for Veterans
Hwasun County, South Jeolla Province, announced on January 30 that it will increase monthly allowances for national veterans and their bereaved families by 20,000 won each, further strengthening its recognition and support for these individuals.
The allowances subject to this increase include the Hwasun County Veterans Allowance, the Hwasun County Honorary Allowance for Veterans, the Hwasun County Allowance for Spouses of Veterans, and the Jeollanam-do Honorary Allowance for Veterans. Each of these will be raised by 20,000 won per month.
As a result, the veterans allowance will rise from 70,000 won to 90,000 won per month, and the honorary allowance for veterans will increase from 100,000 won to 120,000 won per month. In addition, the allowance for spouses of veterans and the Jeollanam-do honorary allowance for veterans will both be raised from 50,000 won to 70,000 won per month.
Beyond these increases, Hwasun County also plans to contribute to the revitalization of veterans' organizations and the welfare of veterans through various support policies, such as condolence payments upon the death of a veteran, visits to national veterans, and operational support for veterans' organizations.
Heo Sunshim, Director of the Social Welfare Division, stated, "We will continue to expand practical and meaningful support for veterans and their families so that respect for those who have served the nation can be felt in everyday life."
