Travel and Get 100,000 Won?…Local Governments Offer 'Healing Pay' to Tourists

Online Pre-Registration for Tourists Opens on February 1

Wando County in Jeollanam-do is once again implementing the 'Wando Healing Pay' project this year to attract tourists and revitalize the local economy.

According to Wando County on January 30, under the slogan "A Great Place for Healing, the Island of Healing - Wando," the county will continue the 'Wando Healing Pay' program, an individual tourist support initiative, following last year's operation.

'Wando Healing Pay' is a stay-type tourism incentive system that provides coupons or points for the Wando Clean Market when tourists spend a certain amount or more at accommodations, restaurants, or cafes within Wando.

The program is operated twice a year, from February to April in the first half and from September to November in the second half, with a focus on attracting tourists during the off-season and revitalizing the local commercial district.

The amount of support varies depending on the total amount on receipts. If you spend at least 100,000 won, you will receive 30,000 won (at one or more locations); if you spend at least 200,000 won, you will receive 60,000 won (at two or more locations); and if you spend at least 300,000 won, you will receive 90,000 won (at three or more locations). An additional 10,000 won is provided for trips to island areas such as Geumil, Nowha, Cheongsan, Soan, Geumdang, Bogil, and Saengil.

To receive the benefits, travelers must submit a travel plan in advance through the Wando Healing Pay website, post a review on their personal social media after the trip, and then apply for reimbursement at an on-site information center or through the website.

This year, the county has expanded the eligibility from two or more people to one or more people, introduced a one-stop service at on-site information centers, simplified the application process, and increased the number of participating merchants as part of various improvements.

The Wando Healing Pay website and on-site information centers will be available starting February 1. Last year, the program attracted 15,477 teams and 43,335 participants, receiving a great response.

A county official said, "Last year, more than 40,000 people participated, showing the popularity of Wando Healing Pay," and added, "We hope visitors will enjoy their trip to Wando and take advantage of these benefits."
