English, Chinese, and Vietnamese Supported
Automatic Qualification Check Enables Paperless Issuance
Woori Card announced on January 30 that it has launched a "Non-Face-to-Face Card Application Service for Foreigners" for foreign customers residing in Korea.
This service targets the rapidly increasing number of long-term foreign residents in Korea. It is a one-stop system in which the entire process-from application to screening and issuance-is handled non-face-to-face via mobile. The service was introduced to improve financial accessibility for foreign customers, who have faced relatively more difficulties in the card issuance process compared to Korean nationals.
To address customer inconvenience caused by complicated document submission and language barriers, all procedures-including identity verification, residence status confirmation, and input of income and employment information-have been completely revamped to be mobile-based. In particular, the system automatically checks qualification criteria by residence status, enabling card issuance without requiring any documents.
The service was first launched in English in December last year, and considering that 29.8% of registered foreign residents in Korea are Chinese and 18.4% are Vietnamese, language support has been expanded this month to include Chinese and Vietnamese.
Foreign customers can apply for a card through the mobile web or app even if they are not Woori Card members. By accessing the Woori Card mobile webpage or app and selecting the "Card Apply for Foreigners" option in the card products menu, they can use the service.
A Woori Card representative stated, "With the introduction of this non-face-to-face card application service for foreigners, foreign customers residing in Korea can now enjoy the same level of convenient card financial services as Korean nationals. We will continue to expand customized digital financial services based on customer characteristics and needs."
