Education Provided on Garden Management and Eco-Friendly Pest Control
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province will be recruiting five community farms to participate in the "Community Weekend Farm Establishment and Operation Support Project" from February 2 to 4.
This project is a pilot program that supports the operation of community-based weekend farms where residents can grow crops together and interact with each other.
Selected communities will receive on-site visits from professional urban agriculture managers, who will provide training on garden management techniques and eco-friendly pest and disease control methods, as well as support for running community activity programs.
Eligible applicants are weekend farms currently operated by communities registered as urban agriculture communities in Siheung City. The farms must be publicly allotted to residents for gardening activities, have a minimum size of 1,500 square meters, and consist of at least 50 plots. The standard area per plot is approximately 30 square meters. Farms that are verified to practice the so-called "three-no farming"-no plastic mulch, no chemical pesticides, and no chemical fertilizers-will be given priority consideration.
Application forms can be downloaded from the public notice section of the city hall website. Interested parties can apply by visiting the Siheung Agricultural Technology Center or by email. The city will select participants through a document review and an on-site inspection. For more information, please contact the Urban Agriculture Team at the Agricultural Technology Division of the Siheung Agricultural Technology Center.
