On the 29th, Yongin City announced that it held a joint briefing session at the Wonsam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Cheoin-gu to discuss the creation of the 'Yongin Semiconductor Cooperation Industrial Complex.'
This industrial complex is a specialized site for semiconductor materials, components, and equipment, being promoted to meet the demand from SK Hynix’s partner companies, which are currently building semiconductor production lines in the nearby 'Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex.'
The complex will be developed on a 263,780-square-meter site at 568-1, Jukneung-ri, Wonsam-myeon, Cheoin-gu. The project will require an investment of 27.94 billion won, with completion targeted for 2030.
This briefing session was held in accordance with the 'Special Act on the Simplification of Industrial Complex Licensing Procedures,' following the application for industrial complex plan approval submitted by Jesam Yongin Technovalley Co., Ltd., the project operator, on the 20th. Yongin City plans to proceed with the industrial complex plan approval process based on opinions gathered at the briefing, in consultation with relevant agencies and through a review process.
Related documents will be available for public viewing at the Corporate Industrial Complex Location Division at City Hall and the Wonsam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center until March 3. Residents may submit their opinions in writing during the viewing period.
The complex will be developed through a public-private partnership using a special purpose company (SPC). Yongin Urban Corporation, Hanwha Solutions, and Korea Development Bank are participating in Jesam Yongin Technovalley, the project operator. Yongin Urban Corporation holds a 20% stake.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "We will carefully review the opinions presented by residents and reflect them in the project plan," and added, "We will take the lead in attracting competitive semiconductor materials, components, and equipment companies to strengthen Yongin’s semiconductor ecosystem."
