Oilgeun Oh, CEO of Lotte Construction, recently visited the construction site of 'Changgyeonggung Lotte Castle Signature' in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, to personally inspect the status of winter safety management. He participated in the 'Winter On-Site Inspection Relay Campaign,' which is jointly promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Construction Association of Korea. This campaign is one of the preventive measures conducted by both the public and private sectors to prevent construction site accidents during the winter season.
According to Lotte Construction on January 30, CEO Oh examined the working environment of employees and the status of winter safety and health management during the on-site inspection the previous day. In his New Year's address earlier this year, he emphasized the principle of "No work without safety" and called for strengthening safety and health management.
Lotte Construction has designated the period from December last year to February this year as the cold wave season and is focusing on managing four major types of winter accidents: fire, suffocation, poisoning, and cold-related illnesses. Based on the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Five Basic Rules for Cold Wave Safety,' the company is providing winter protection items, supplying hot water, and adjusting working hours. When a cold wave advisory is issued, outdoor high-altitude work is prohibited, and workers are given a 10-minute break every two hours; during a cold wave warning, a 15-minute break is provided. Workers who are elderly or have underlying health conditions are identified with stickers and their health status is checked frequently.

The company has also strengthened its safety management system, centered around the Chief Safety Officer (CSO). The headquarters' safety situation center monitors sites nationwide in real time via CCTV, and last year, new regional safety inspection centers were established in the Seoul metropolitan area, Yeongnam, and Honam regions. The Safety Innovation Division, launched in the same year, is introducing smart construction technology for high-risk tasks and providing technical safety training for on-site employees.
A Lotte Construction representative stated, "We decided to participate in the 'Winter On-Site Inspection Relay Campaign' to help prevent cold-related illnesses and safety accidents in winter. We will strive to achieve zero major accidents by raising safety awareness among all employees, not only in safety and health but across all job categories, and by spreading a company-wide culture of practicing safety management."
