Jindo County in South Jeolla Province is accelerating efforts to improve living conditions by promoting the construction of a dormitory for nursing and welfare staff in rural areas to ensure stable housing.

According to the county, the “Rural Nursing and Welfare Staff Dormitory Construction Project” is progressing smoothly, with a current completion rate of 25 percent, and is expected to be completed by the end of August.

This project aims to reduce the housing burden and support the stable settlement of nursing and welfare staff working in rural areas. It is also intended to prevent the outflow of young people to other regions and encourage long-term employment. Ultimately, the goal is to enhance the quality of local medical and welfare services.

The dormitory is being built with a total project cost of 6.7 billion won, consisting of a four-story building with 30 units. Considering various needs, each unit is designed as a studio apartment with a dedicated area of 32 square meters. The county expects that, by offering rents lower than the local market rate, the financial burden on residents will be significantly reduced.

The county is closely monitoring the construction process to ensure the schedule and quality are strictly managed, and explained that the project is proceeding without any major setbacks so far.

Kim Heesu, Governor of Jindo County, stated, “The construction of the dormitory for nursing and welfare staff is an important project to improve living conditions in underdeveloped rural areas and to secure medical and welfare personnel in a stable manner. Through this, we will be able to provide higher-quality medical and welfare services to our residents.”

Meanwhile, the county plans to continue rigorous management of construction progress and safety, ensure the project is completed without delays, and consistently promote policies to expand local medical staff and improve residential welfare.
