First Public Delivery App Discount Coupon Program Among Gwangju Districts
Up to 20% Discount to Ease Dining Costs and Boost Local Businesses

Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City will officially launch a public delivery app discount coupon program to revitalize the local alley economy. Seo-gu announced that starting in February, it will issue 500 discount coupons worth 2,500 won each per day, which can be used when ordering through the public delivery app "Ttaenggyeoyo."

The discount coupons will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. every Monday to Thursday between February and June. Each person can receive a 2,500 won discount when placing an order of 20,000 won or more. Consumers can enjoy a total discount effect of up to 20% if they combine the 10% pre-discount offered when purchasing a Digital Onnuri Gift Certificate with the benefits of the discount coupon.

The coupons can be used at participating merchants on "Ttaenggyeoyo" that accept Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates. Seo-gu will allocate a total budget of 100 million won for this project.

Notably, Seo-gu is the first among Gwangju’s autonomous districts to promote a public delivery app discount coupon program, aiming to ease residents’ dining expenses while also reducing delivery brokerage fees for small business owners and boosting the local economy.

Previously, Seo-gu signed a "Business Agreement for Operating the Seo-gu Type Public Delivery App in Gwangju" with the Gwangju Economic Promotion and Win-Win Job Foundation and the Ttaenggyeoyo Business Division of Shinhan Bank Co., Ltd. "Ttaenggyeoyo" is a public-private partnership delivery platform with a brokerage fee of about 2%, significantly lower than private delivery apps, minimizing the burden on small businesses. The Gwangju Economic Promotion and Win-Win Job Foundation is responsible for project operation and the issuance and management of discount coupons.

Lee Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, Gwangju, stated, "This consumer support project is a good example of a win-win economic model that reduces the burden on residents and revitalizes local businesses by combining public policy with private digital technology," adding, "We will actively support the spread of a virtuous consumption culture throughout the region."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu has drastically reduced business promotion expenses and various event-related costs to conduct an "Onnuri Gift Certificate Payback (Rebate) Event" worth 1.4 billion won over 12 weeks from January 9 to April 2.

When making a payment of 20,000 won or more with a Digital Onnuri Gift Certificate at Onnuri Gift Certificate-affiliated merchants in Seo-gu, customers can receive a 5% rebate on the payment amount, with a weekly rebate limit of up to 10,000 won per person. By combining the basic 10% pre-discount on Onnuri Gift Certificates with the 5% rebate, consumers can enjoy a real discount effect of up to 15%. In particular, Seo-gu plans to double the weekly rebate amount to 200 million won and raise the individual rebate limit to up to 25,000 won per week during the two weeks from February 6 to 19, when spending typically increases due to the Lunar New Year holiday.
