The Support Association of the National Busan Science Museum (Director Song Samjong) has been newly launched to serve as a stepping stone for the spread of scientific culture in the southeastern region.

The National Busan Science Museum Support Association held an inauguration ceremony for the new chairman in the museum’s conference room on January 28, announcing the appointment of Lee Inhwan as the sixth chairman. The event was attended by key members, including former chairman Lee Sutae (Chairman of Panasia), the first chairman Lee Chaeyoon (Chairman of Rino Industries), executive members of the association, Yang Jaesaeng (Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Lee Sangwook (Head of Kori Nuclear Power Headquarters at Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power), and representatives from BNK Busan Bank.

The event proceeded with the presentation of a plaque of appreciation to the outgoing chairman, an inaugural address by the new chairman, and a donation pledge ceremony. Lee Sutae, who led the association for six years, remarked, "It was meaningful to be able to support children in nurturing their dreams in science," and added, "I will continue to be a supporter of the National Busan Science Museum."

In his inaugural address, he stated, "As a partner of the National Busan Science Museum, which is preparing for a new future after its 10th anniversary, I feel a sense of responsibility," and added, "I will strengthen the support network and expand practical support so that children from underprivileged backgrounds can access science without discrimination."

Song Samjong, Director of the National Busan Science Museum, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank former chairman Lee Sutae for his dedication to the growth of the museum," and continued, "Together with the new chairman Lee Inhwan and the support members, we will work to eliminate blind spots in scientific culture."

Following the ceremony, an unveiling ceremony for the "AI Robot Classroom" plaque, established with support from the Kori Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, was held in the multimedia room on the third floor. Since January, the National Busan Science Museum has been operating educational programs utilizing artificial intelligence and collaborative robots, and plans to expand customized curricula for different age groups in the future.

Since its founding in January 2016, the National Busan Science Museum Support Association has contributed to supporting underprivileged groups in scientific culture and expanding the base of science and technology. Last year, it became the first among national science museum support associations to receive the "Minister of Science and ICT Award for Contributions to the Spread of Scientific Culture." Through initiatives such as science sharing education, science education for people with disabilities, smart senior school, and support for overseas scientific cultural activities, the association supports about 10,000 people annually, with a cumulative total of around 90,000 beneficiaries.
