Jang Wonyoung Files Trademark Application Herself... Agency Says "Not Personal Business, But to Prevent Misuse" Ive Jang Wonyoung. Yonhap News

The agency has denied rumors that Jang Wonyoung, a member of the group IVE, is venturing into personal business following her trademark application.

According to the Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service (KIPRIS) on January 29, Jang Wonyoung has applied for trademarks for the name 'FOREVER:CHERRY' and a cherry-shaped logo. The designated goods include 30 items such as cosmetics, essential oils, and electric toothbrushes.

Starship Entertainment released an official statement the previous day, saying, "'FOREVER CHERRY' is a brand collaboration project and not Jang Wonyoung's personal business."

On January 12, Jang Wonyoung posted a video on her social media tagging the 'FOREVER:CHERRY' account. The logo was designed by transforming the initials of her name, 'J O Y', into a cherry shape.

The agency explained that the name reflects the artist's identity and image. They further stated, "To prevent indiscriminate commercial misuse and brand abuse by third parties after the project ends, we agreed with the brand to file the trademark under Jang Wonyoung's name."

Regarding the broad scope of the application, the agency said, "This is a proactive measure to prevent the misuse of the artist's image across various business sectors." Starship Entertainment added, "We will prioritize the artist's rights and fully preserve her unique value."
