BuySellStandard Secures 3 Billion KRW Investment from Experix

Becomes Second-Largest Shareholder
"Strategic Investment Including IP Token Securities Commercialization"

Token securities platform company BuySellStandard has secured an investment of 3 billion KRW (approximately 2.25 million USD) from KOSDAQ-listed Experix Group.

According to the digital asset and investment banking (IB) industry on January 28, BuySellStandard, the operator of the token securities-based digital asset platform "PIECE," has attracted a total investment of 3 billion KRW from Experix, a KOSDAQ-listed digital ID solution provider, and its affiliate Intellectual Discovery. The capital payment is expected to be completed in February. After the investment, Experix Group will become the second-largest shareholder of BuySellStandard.

BuySellStandard and Experix are expected to pursue various collaborations through this investment. Experix is a KOSDAQ-listed company that provides digital ID and biometric solutions and owns Intellectual Discovery, an intellectual property (IP) specialist established in 2010, as its affiliate. Intellectual Discovery holds key domestic and international patents in major technology fields such as telecommunications, semiconductors, and software, generating revenue through licensing, and possesses a diverse portfolio of global technology patents. For example, if BuySellStandard’s tokenization technology is combined with Intellectual Discovery’s IP portfolio, it could enable the tokenization and securitization of IP assets that have traditionally been difficult to liquidate.

Beyond this collaboration, BuySellStandard is also expanding partnerships with other companies. On January 15, the day the token securities bill was passed, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SK Securities for the issuance of token securities and market activation. The two companies plan to cooperate across the entire token securities business, including financial support for small and venture companies, securitization of venture capital, and the development of structured financial products. In addition, BuySellStandard is participating as an issuer in the "KDX Consortium" led by Korea Exchange (KRX), and is strategizing to become a core infrastructure provider for token securities trading if selected as a distribution platform operator in the future.

BuySellStandard’s ability to not only liquidate assets but also design and manage investment products is considered a key competitive strength in the token securities sector. An asset management industry insider commented, "Simple tokenization alone is unlikely to win the market," adding, "Companies that can discover non-traditional assets such as IP, content, and ships-assets not covered by conventional finance-and structure them into products with attractive cash flows will lead the market."

With this investment, BuySellStandard is now moving to close its Series A round. It is reported that discussions with several venture capital firms (VCs) and institutional investors are in the final stages. A BuySellStandard representative stated, "We are smoothly progressing with Series A fundraising, and concrete plans for IP productization with Intellectual Discovery will be developed through close discussions going forward."
