'Y-Future Wings' is a name that combines the 'Y' of Yangcheon, 'Future,' and 'Wings.' It symbolizes the growth of Yangcheon youth who use the future technology of drones as wings to soar into a wider world.
The team will consist of a total of 12 members, divided into two teams of six. Eligible applicants are students from 4th grade in elementary school to 3rd grade in middle school within the district. Any student with an interest in drone soccer and a passion for consistent participation can apply through the Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal (lifestudy.yangcheon.go.kr).
The final selection will be determined on February 21 through a drone operation competency evaluation. Using drones provided by the center, applicants will be comprehensively evaluated on basic drone control skills, the time required to complete a designated course, and their willingness to participate.
Selected team members will participate in activities for about 10 months, from March to December this year. Regular training will be held every Saturday from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Neobeondeul Future Education Center, and the team will also participate in national youth drone soccer competitions. All activity fees are fully covered.
Starting in April, the district will establish the 'Drone Soccer Basic Regular Academy,' allowing graduates to apply for the following year's team selection.
Lee Ki-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, "Drone soccer is a convergence technology education field that combines future technology with sports, offering a great opportunity for youth to expand both their interests and career paths. We will establish a systematic player development system based at the Neobeondeul Future Education Center and develop it as a future-oriented sports education model representing Yangcheon District."
