Major Work Report and First Supplementary Budget Proposal to Be Addressed
The Yeongcheon City Council, chaired by Kim Seontae, convened its 250th extraordinary session on January 26, beginning with the first plenary meeting. The session will run for 12 days until February 6, officially launching the council’s legislative activities for the year.
During this extraordinary session, the council plans to address key issues directly affecting citizens’ daily lives, including the 2026 municipal government’s major work report, the first supplementary budget proposal, ordinance bills, and other agenda items.
At the first plenary meeting held on this day, the council handled a total of four agenda items, including the decision on the session period for the 250th extraordinary session of the Yeongcheon City Council.
Among the main items, the council voted down the request for reconsideration regarding 12 items (one for revenue, eleven for expenditure) of the 2026 main budget, which had been submitted by the executive branch in accordance with Article 142 of the Local Autonomy Act.
In his opening remarks, Chairperson Kim Seontae stated, “Through the 2026 major work report, which marks the first extraordinary session of the Year of Byeongo, we will thoroughly examine the direction and vision for city administration.” He added, “We will focus all our efforts on realizing the highest value of citizens’ happiness by implementing field-oriented legislative activities that residents can truly feel, and by ensuring responsible administration and communication from the executive branch.”
Meanwhile, from January 27, each standing committee will listen to major work reports and review ordinance bills and other agenda items. On February 4, during the second plenary meeting, the council will vote on ordinance bills and complete the formation of the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts for the review of the supplementary budget proposal.
On the final day of the session, February 6, the third plenary meeting will be held to finalize the first supplementary budget for 2026, concluding the session.
