Work Time Reduced by Over 50% Compared to Manual Verification
Hyundai AutoEver announced on January 26 that its 'mobilgene x-Studio' has received certification for the international automotive functional safety standard (ISO 26262).
Developed in-house by Hyundai AutoEver in 2023, mobilgene x-Studio is a program that automates the verification process for vehicle software (SW) safety. Since vehicle software controls the entire automotive system, including the powertrain and infotainment, rigorous testing is required to ensure safety.

Generally, three methods are used for vehicle software verification: Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL). MIL is a technique that theoretically verifies the 'algorithm', which is the command system that operates the software. It is mainly used in the early stages of development to check whether the system functions correctly. SIL is a method to confirm that the actual software code operates without issues. HIL verifies that the software works properly even when connected to hardware (HW).
Mobilgene x-Studio automates verification in various environments, including MIL, SIL, and HIL. As a result, work time has been reduced by more than 50% compared to the previous manual method. In addition, verification can be performed according to pre-set environments even when workers are not present, such as after work hours or on weekends.
With this ISO 26262 certification, Hyundai AutoEver has secured global-level reliability and business competitiveness for mobilgene x-Studio. ISO 26262 is an international standard that verifies the safety of automotive electrical and electronic systems. It was established in 2011 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to reduce risks caused by malfunctions in electrical and electronic systems. This certification was overseen by UL Solutions, the first U.S. safety standards development and certification organization, founded in 1894.
Hyundai AutoEver will strengthen its functional safety response capabilities required for client projects. Currently, mobilgene x-Studio is being applied to a variety of vehicle software verifications. With potential applications in industries beyond automotive, such as aerospace, defense, and robotics, the company plans to expand collaboration with various clients in the future.
Kwon Haeyoung, Executive Director in charge of SDV at Hyundai AutoEver, stated, "With this certification, we have secured international reliability for our verification automation tool," adding, "We will provide competitive services to increase customer satisfaction."
