Hero Dubai Desert Classic: Reed Wins by Four Strokes
Fourth DP World Tour Victory, Earns $1.64 Million Prize
Sullivan Finishes Second; McIlroy and Hatton Share 33rd Place
PGA Tour member Patrick Reed (USA) has claimed victory on the DP World Tour.
On January 25 (local time), at the Emirates Golf Club (par 72, 7,439 yards) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Reed traded two birdies for two bogeys in the fourth round of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (total prize money: 9 million dollars). With an even-par 72, Reed finished with a total score of 14-under-par 274 to secure the win. This marks his fourth career victory and his first in six years since winning the WGC Mexico Championship in February 2020. The winner’s prize is 1,638,000 dollars (approximately 2.4 billion won).
Reed started the final round with a four-shot lead but had a shaky start with a bogey on the 4th hole (par 3). After making up for a birdie on the 10th hole (par 5) with a bogey on the 11th (par 3), he regained his lost stroke with a birdie on the 13th (par 5). He safely finished the remaining five holes with pars to collect the winner’s trophy.
Andy Sullivan (England) shot one under par to finish second (10-under-par 278). Viktor Hovland (Norway) tied for 14th (5-under-par 283), while Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) and Tyrrell Hatton (England) shared 33rd place (2-under-par 286). Tommy Fleetwood (England), ranked third in the world and the defending champion, tied for 41st (1-under-par 287). Lee Junghwan missed the cut.
