The publication celebration for "The Sincerity of Shin Sujeong," a book encapsulating Chairperson Shin Sujeong's 20-year political philosophy and her dedication to regional development, concluded successfully on the 25th with the attendance of over 6,000 citizens and related parties.
The event was attended by a wide range of distinguished guests, including Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do; Shin Jeonghoon, Chairperson of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee; Yang Bunam, Gwangju City Party Chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea; National Assembly members Min Hyungbae, Jeong Junho, Jeon Jinsook, Jeong Jinwook, Ahn Dogeol, and Park Kyuntaek; Lee Jeongseon, Superintendent of Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education; Lee Byunghoon, Senior Vice Chairperson of the Democratic Party's Honam Development Special Committee; Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu; Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu; as well as members of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council and local district councils, all of whom gathered to celebrate the publication.

The publication celebration was held in the form of a talk concert, where Chairperson Shin candidly shared her journey and the stories contained in her book. Topics ranged from her early days as a first-term council member inspecting playground safety with a tape measure, to enacting the nation's first ordinance supporting reclusive youths, her stance on administrative integration between Gwangju and Jeonnam, and her vision for rebuilding Buk-gu.
In particular, Lee Kisung, President of the Gwangju Small Business Association, took the stage to present a plaque of appreciation, stating, "You have revived the heart of stagnant local businesses and have been a strong pillar for small business owners standing at the edge of a cliff," drawing attention from the audience.
In her closing remarks, Chairperson Shin stated, "The driving force behind my 20 years in politics has not been dazzling skills, but rather a rough yet steadfast sincerity." She added, "True to my name, I will continue to 'correct' our city to make it a better place to live, and strive to make the lives of our residents shine like the gemstone 'crystal.' I will now turn the sincerity of the past 20 years into conviction," receiving enthusiastic applause and cheers from the attendees.
Meanwhile, "The Sincerity of Shin Sujeong" is a record of Chairperson Shin's 20 years of grassroots politics, her journey from three terms as a Buk-gu council member to becoming the first female chairperson in the 34-year history of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, and her vision for rebuilding Gwangju and Buk-gu. The publication celebration was evaluated as more than just a politician's memoir, serving as a platform for sharing local issues with residents and seeking a vision for the future together.
