Seokgu Kim, former president of Pyeongtaek Port Authority, is holding a book concert on the 24th to commemorate the publication of "Every Corner: Seokgu Kim's Navigation Diary."
This event marked Kim's first official public appearance since stepping down as the head of a public institution, drawing a large and diverse crowd, including local political figures and citizens, demonstrating significant interest. The venue was graced by the presence of National Assembly members Soh Byunghoon (Gwangju Gap, Gyeonggi Province) and An Taejun (Gwangju Eul, Gyeonggi Province), former Blue House political secretary Kim Byungwook, as well as numerous members of the Gyeonggi Provincial and Gwangju City Councils.
During the book concert, Kim identified his "experiences at sea" as the source of his leadership. He recalled the urgent situation of facing a missile attack in a war zone during his time serving on an oil tanker, stating, "I realized how crucial it is for a leader to remain steadfast in times of crisis."
He particularly emphasized, "A voyage does not begin only when the waves are calm; as long as the direction and goal are clear, the journey can start. While we cannot eliminate the waves, how we face them depends on the choices of the leader at the helm," resonating deeply with the audience.
Kim also highlighted "safety" as the core value that runs through both public service and fieldwork. He stated, "Safety is not about dealing with problems after they occur, but about organizing the unseen aspects from the very start. The field is more important than reports, and only when we spend enough time listening can we ensure the course is not diverted," expressing his firm belief.
In congratulatory remarks, Assemblyman Soh Byunghoon praised Kim as "a very diligent and calm person," based on his observations since his days as a National Assembly aide. Assemblyman An Taejun added, "I sincerely support his determination to channel his experience in public institution management into a new commitment to the local community."
