According to the police on January 23, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul conducted a search and seizure of the National Assembly Secretariat's Operations Support Division in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, for about two hours starting at 3 p.m. on this day. The purpose of this search and seizure was to secure materials related to the wedding of Assemblywoman Choi's daughter. The Operations Support Division of the National Assembly Secretariat manages 'Sarangjae,' the venue where National Assembly weddings are held.
Last October, during the national audit period, Assemblywoman Choi held her daughter's wedding and received congratulatory money from audited institutions, sparking controversy. Civic groups, including the People's Livelihood Countermeasure Committee, filed a complaint with the police against Assemblywoman Choi on charges of violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and abuse of authority.
