Incheon City will implement a private supply program for hydrogen electric vehicles this year, with a total of 486 vehicles.
The breakdown by vehicle type is as follows: 203 hydrogen buses (104 low-floor and 99 high-floor), 280 hydrogen passenger cars, and 3 hydrogen trucks. The number of hydrogen buses supplied has increased significantly compared to last year (155 units), allowing citizens to use eco-friendly transportation more frequently in their daily lives.
The purchase subsidy for each vehicle type is 32.5 million won for hydrogen passenger cars, up to 300 million won for low-floor hydrogen buses, up to 350 million won for high-floor hydrogen buses, and 450 million won for hydrogen trucks.
Starting this year, the city will also provide support for replacing the "fuel cell stack" in hydrogen buses (55 million won per unit). By subsidizing the replacement cost of the fuel cell stack, a core component of hydrogen buses whose warranty period has expired, the city aims to extend vehicle lifespans and create a stable operational environment.
Eligible applicants for the hydrogen electric vehicle purchase subsidy are citizens, corporations, and business owners who have been registered as residents of Incheon for at least 30 days prior to the application date and are at least 18 years old. Applications can be submitted through the Zero Emission Vehicle Integrated Portal of the Climate and Energy Environment Division until December 4, and the program may close early if the budget is exhausted.
An Incheon City official stated, "We have focused on rapidly converting large commercial vehicles with high pollutant emissions, such as buses and trucks, to hydrogen vehicles. Through policies that reflect on-the-ground feedback, such as support for fuel cell stack replacement, we will take the lead in achieving carbon neutrality and reducing fine dust."
