The Daejeon Office of Education will invest approximately 300 billion won this year in facility projects, including the construction of new schools and classroom expansions, improvements to aging school facilities, and the reinforcement of infrastructure.

This year’s budget has been primarily allocated to projects that reflect changes in student numbers and local conditions, focusing on the construction and expansion of schools, as well as initiatives to improve and strengthen the safety of aging school facilities.

First, the office plans to promptly respond to increased educational demand in certain areas through school construction and expansion projects. By gradually establishing new schools, including the tentatively named Yonggye Elementary School, and expanding existing schools, the office aims to alleviate overcrowded classrooms and create a stable educational environment.

Additionally, the office will continue to implement projects to improve aging school facilities and enhance safety. Through seismic reinforcement and the replacement of outdated electrical and mechanical systems-directly related to student safety-the safety of school sites will be further strengthened.

Alongside these efforts, 128.5 billion won will be invested in key environmental improvement projects, such as replacing heating and cooling systems and electrical facilities, remodeling restrooms, and installing ventilation systems in school cafeterias, to create a more comfortable learning environment.

In particular, the office will transparently provide advance notice of these projects through its official website, and will focus on minimizing construction delays and reducing inconvenience at schools by managing all stages-from design to construction and completion-systematically throughout the year.

Baek Seungyoung, Director of Facilities at the Daejeon Office of Education, stated, "Despite challenging financial conditions in education, the budget has been allocated to essential facility projects. We will systematically execute these projects from the beginning of the year to ensure smooth implementation," adding, "We will do our utmost to strengthen communication with the field and create a safe and trustworthy educational environment that all members of the school community can truly appreciate."
