SK Ecoplant Earns Leadership Rating in 2025 Carbon Disclosure Project

SK Ecoplant Earns Leadership Rating in 2025 Carbon Disclosure Project

On January 23, SK Ecoplant announced that it had received a 'Leadership A-' rating in the '2025 CDP Climate Change Response Assessment' released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

CDP is an international non-profit environmental organization that annually assesses major companies around the world on their climate change response strategies, carbon emissions, and efforts to reduce carbon output.

The assessment grades are determined by reflecting each company's environmental goals, commitment to implementation, and performance. The grades are divided into four levels: Leadership (A/A-), Management (B/B-), Awareness (C/C-), and Disclosure (D/D-).

SK Ecoplant reported that it succeeded in achieving an improved rating compared to the previous year, being highly evaluated for its comprehensive efforts to enhance low-carbon management, such as advancing its carbon reduction targets and emissions management systems, and leading the use of sustainable energy.

Specifically, SK Ecoplant achieved a reduction of approximately 5% in carbon emissions compared to the previous year based on Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions from electricity and energy use at business sites). The company was also recognized for leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to conduct in-depth analyses of global CDP evaluation indicators and methodologies, and for identifying improvement tasks to strengthen carbon reduction execution across its supply chain.

SK Ecoplant is also focusing on strengthening its supply chain carbon emissions management capabilities. As part of this, the company disclosed and completed external verification of its total external carbon emissions (Scope 3), which occur in the process of working with business partners, logistics, product use, and disposal. In addition, major carbon-related indicators and response statuses are being released through business reports and sustainability reports. This level of information disclosure was also reflected in the CDP assessment.

A representative from SK Ecoplant stated, "We will continue to maintain the completeness of our climate response system at a global level by systematically managing and monitoring our carbon emissions."
