Daejeon Fire Headquarters to Enhance Practical Skills
through Four Weeks of On-Site Emergency Care Training
The Daejeon Fire Headquarters will conduct a four-week field training program for 58 students from the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Daejeon Health Institute of Technology, allowing them to ride along in 119 ambulances from January 26 to February 20, 2026.
This training is designed to help prospective emergency medical technicians experience real-life emergency situations and perform patient assessments and emergency care procedures themselves, thereby enhancing their on-site response capabilities and understanding of their duties.
The trainees will be assigned to five fire stations under the Daejeon Fire Headquarters, where they will accompany 119 paramedics on dispatches. They will systematically learn the entire emergency response process, from receiving emergency calls and arriving at the scene to patient assessment, emergency care, and hospital transport.
Kim Hwasik, Head of the Rescue and Emergency Medical Services Division at Daejeon Fire Headquarters, stated, "This ride-along training is an important step for prospective emergency medical technicians to develop field-oriented professionalism and a sense of responsibility. We will continue to work closely with educational institutions to cultivate emergency medical personnel with strong practical skills."
