The agreement, signed on January 21, was established based on the experience of the two organizations participating together in the '2025 Korean Language Officer Support Project' and collaborating to explore ways to improve public language.
Under this agreement, Gangdong District and the Sejong Korean Language and Culture Center will cooperate from this year on consulting and educational programs for the correct use of public language, as well as promotional activities for the proper use of Hangul. The district expects that this collaboration will raise the overall standard of public language, improve residents' understanding of and access to district information, and lay the foundation for a welfare system based on Korean language culture.
Mayor Soohee Lee of Gangdong District emphasized, "This year marks the 580th anniversary of the proclamation of Hunminjeongeum and the 100th anniversary of Hangul Day, making it a truly meaningful year. We will put King Sejong's spirit of caring for the people-who sought to share knowledge and information through easy-to-understand characters-into practice in our administration."
