Mayor Yoo Sunghoon of Geumcheon Launches Grassroots "Neighborhood Tour" Ahead of Lunar New Year

10-Day Inspection Tour Covering 10 Neighborhoods Starting January 26

Geumcheon District in Seoul (Mayor Yoo Sunghoon) will conduct the "Neighborhood Tour by the Alley Mayor" from January 26 to February 6 in celebration of the Lunar New Year holiday.

Mayor Yoo Sunghoon, known as the "Alley Mayor" for his commitment to visiting every corner of the district, has made it a tradition to tour local neighborhoods around this time each year to personally address residents' civil complaints. This year, ahead of the holiday, the event has been organized to support vulnerable groups in welfare blind spots and to listen closely to the voices of residents at the grassroots level.

This inspection tour will be carried out over 10 days, with one neighborhood visited each day. Starting with Siheung 1-dong on January 26, the tour will continue to Doksan 3-dong on January 27, Siheung 5-dong on January 28, Gasan-dong on January 29, Doksan 2-dong on January 30, Doksan 4-dong on February 2, Siheung 4-dong on February 3, Doksan 1-dong on February 4, Siheung 2-dong on February 5, and Siheung 3-dong on February 6, covering a total of 10 neighborhoods.

Mayor Yoo plans to visit local children's centers, senior centers, and care households in each neighborhood to extend holiday greetings and assess any challenges on-site. In addition, he will personally inspect areas where civil complaints have been filed, such as roads with newly installed heating systems, snow removal vulnerable zones, and aging houses, to ensure that improvement projects are progressing as planned.

On the first day, January 26, he will exchange New Year's greetings at the Saerim Community Child Center in Siheung 1-dong, then visit Borin House No. 1 in Doksan 2-dong and the temporary senior shelter in Siheung 5-dong. He also plans to tour sites with frequent resident complaints, such as the Yuchang Shopping Center at the Doksan 1-dong livestock market and the Parkmi Underpass in Siheung 3-dong.

This event has been scheduled autonomously, taking into account the unique characteristics of each neighborhood. Any suggestions or requests made by residents on-site will be immediately recorded in the civil complaint management ledger to track the resolution process, and the results will later be communicated to the residents.

Mayor Yoo stated, "I organized this event with the intention of visiting every alley where our residents live and listening to even the smallest voices," adding, "By making the vivid opinions gathered on-site the driving force of district administration, I will pursue field-oriented governance that brings tangible changes to residents' daily lives."
