According to media outlets including the Nikkei on January 22, the two companies plan to set up a new company in the second half of this year, with plans to manufacture and sell EV buses developed by Foxconn at Mitsubishi Fuso's Toyama City plant.

The Toyama City plant serves as Mitsubishi Fuso's main bus production base, and the joint venture is also expected to take over the production of Mitsubishi Fuso's existing diesel buses.

In August of last year, the two companies announced their intention to cooperate in the production and sales of EV buses. Foxconn, widely known for producing Apple iPhones, declared its entry into the EV business in 2019 and has been actively expanding in the sector, unveiling three models in 2021.

Meanwhile, Foxconn is reportedly also considering acquiring Nissan Motor's Oppama plant in Kanagawa Prefecture.
