"What Were They Thinking?"... Paris Baguette’s 'R-Rated' Bread Finally Changed

Paris Baguette has changed the production process of its new product, the 'Berry Chewy Ball,' which sparked controversy due to its shape resembling a particular part of the female body.

According to the industry on January 22, Paris Baguette recently notified each store that "starting from the batches produced on the 21st, the step of scoring the frozen dough in the Berry Chewy Ball manufacturing process will be removed."

In the notice, the company explained, "We have decided to remove the scoring step and operate without it, reflecting on-site suggestions that scoring the dough while it is still frozen is inconvenient, and to improve work safety and production efficiency." It was reported that workers had expressed difficulties with the task of scoring the rock-hard frozen dough.

Accordingly, the photo of the 'Berry Chewy Ball' posted on Paris Baguette's official website has also been replaced with an image showing the product without any scoring. Other than omitting the scoring step, there have been no additional changes to the process.

As news of this process change spread, some speculated that it may have been influenced by the recent controversy.

Previously, on January 20, photos of the 'Berry Chewy Ball' and customer reviews were rapidly shared across various online communities. On this day, a user on the online community FM Korea posted, "I stopped by Paris Baguette to buy bread for my wife, and I couldn't believe my eyes and ended up buying it as if I was possessed," along with a photo proving the purchase.

The 'Berry Chewy Ball' in question is a round bread filled with strawberry cream cheese, which is baked so that, depending on how much the cream cheese seeps out through the outer opening during baking, it could resemble female genitalia.

Online users reacted with comments such as, "It's not just dirty-minded people; most people would think of that," "It'll probably be discontinued," "Even as a man, it looks unappealing," "What were they thinking when they made this?" "Is the varying shape due to the baker's personal taste?" and "Isn't this way too suggestive?" Hundreds of R-rated joke comments followed due to the product's appearance.

However, some pointed out that the controversial product was actually a defective item resulting from an issue in the production process. In fact, in the promotional poster uploaded to Paris Baguette's official Instagram, the Berry Chewy Ball appeared to be baked in a standard shape. There was also a disclaimer stating, "The above image is a staged image and may differ from the actual product." Regarding the controversial product, Paris Baguette explained, "It seems that the filling leaked out excessively because the scoring on the dough was too deep during production."
