Gwangju Buk-gu Opens New District Office Era... Sequential Relocation Begins on the 26th

The Buk-gu District Office in Gwangju, which had caused inconvenience to visitors due to its aging building and limited space, has completed the construction of a new annex and is being transformed into a pleasant administrative space.

According to Buk-gu District Office on January 22, starting from January 26, five divisions and 17 departments will sequentially begin their work in the new annex.

The new annex, with a total project cost of 30 billion won, has a total floor area of 7,179 square meters and consists of one basement level and eight above-ground floors.

Until now, the Buk-gu District Office had its departments scattered across seven locations, including the main building, an annex, and externally leased buildings, which led to reduced work efficiency and confusion among visitors. With the completion of the new annex, the office space will now be consolidated into three locations: the new annex, the main building, and the Hyojuk 1 public parking lot, significantly resolving issues related to inefficient movement between buildings.

The first floor of the new annex will feature convenience spaces such as a cafeteria and a caf?, which will be open to all residents. From the second to the seventh floors, 17 operational departments, an archive, a disaster safety situation room, and a multipurpose meeting room will be located, while the eighth floor will house essential infrastructure facilities.

The relocation of departments will begin on January 24. On January 26, six departments including the Architecture Division will be the first to start work in the new annex, followed by three departments including the Culture and Arts Division on February 2, and eight departments including the Livelihood Economy Division on February 9, each moving into their new spaces in sequence.

Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, stated, "I am pleased that the construction of the new annex, which marks a significant milestone in the history of the Buk-gu District Office, has been safely completed," and added, "We will do our utmost to provide greater convenience and more efficient administrative services to residents based on the improved working environment."

Meanwhile, Buk-gu plans to continue expanding and improving its office facilities and environment in three phases through 2032, in accordance with the 'Basic Roadmap for Office Expansion' established in 2022.
