Gyeonggi Province Holds "K-Semiconductor Industry Provincial-City Mutual Cooperation Forum" in Pangyo on the 22nd

A forum was held to discuss policy coordination between Gyeonggi Province and its cities and counties in the semiconductor industry, as well as to identify collaborative projects at the field level.

On January 22, Gyeonggi Province held the "K-Semiconductor Industry Provincial-City Mutual Cooperation Forum" in Pangyo, Seongnam, hosted by the Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute.

The event was attended by representatives from 16 cities and counties, including Yongin, Pyeongtaek, and Suwon, as well as about 70 officials from related organizations such as the Next Generation Convergence Technology Institute. The program included presentations, policy sharing and discussions, and a Q&A session.

In particular, during the session introducing this year’s major projects by city and county, Yongin, Seongnam, and Pyeongtaek presented their ongoing initiatives and discussed points of cooperation between Gyeonggi Province and the local governments.

Discussions also covered the quantum industry sector. Lee Seokhwan, Senior Researcher at the Future Quantum Convergence Center, delivered a presentation on "Trends in Quantum Science and Technology and Strategies for Fostering Gyeonggi Province’s Quantum Industry," sharing technology trends and policy implications. During the subsequent breakout discussions, participating organizations identified field-oriented joint projects under the theme of "Discovering Collaborative Projects and Sharing Best Practices," and discussed applicable cooperation models.

Through this forum, Gyeonggi Province aims to share policy and project information with cities and counties, and to concretize collaborative projects encompassing related fields such as semiconductors, fabless, and quantum technologies, thereby laying the foundation for strengthening the competitiveness of the K-Semiconductor Cluster. In particular, the province is considering follow-up measures such as operating additional consultative bodies to identify effective joint projects that reflect the industrial conditions and characteristics of each city and county, and to ensure these projects lead to commercialization and wider adoption.

Park Noguk, Director-General for Future Growth Industries, stated, "Gyeonggi Province will further advance its mutual cooperation system with cities, counties, and related organizations to strengthen the competitiveness of the K-Semiconductor Cluster and expand an industrial ecosystem that attracts both companies and talent."
