Goheung County Introduces Its Attractions to Central Asian Koryoin Youth

Focused Promotion of Space, Nature, and Culinary Attractions

Goheung County in South Jeolla Province is launching a campaign to promote Goheung as a leading tourist destination in Korea, targeting Koryoin youth from Central Asia.

The county announced that it had introduced Goheung’s signature festivals, tourist attractions, and local specialties through the Hanailbo Grant Concert magazine "Beautiful Korea." This magazine is distributed to approximately 110,000 people in Korea, primarily targeting Koryoin youth from Central Asian countries such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. It is produced to help these young people who have settled in Korea better understand the country and to promote cultural exchange.

Through this promotional effort, Goheung County highlighted the Goheung Yuzu Festival, themed around the county’s renowned yuzu, and the Goheung Aerospace Festival, which underscores its status as the center of Korea’s aerospace industry. The county also focused on introducing new landmarks along the southern coast, such as the Geogeum Bridge, as well as healing and marine tourism destinations like Nokdong Marine Garden and Goheung Bay Sunset Waterfront Park.

Additionally, the campaign featured Udo, famous for its beautiful natural scenery, and the Palyongsan Hinoki Healing Forest, a leading forest therapy destination in Korea. The magazine also provided detailed information on Goheung’s pristine natural tourist resources and a wide variety of local cuisine centered on fresh seafood and regional specialties, capturing the interest of readers.

Goheung County expects that this promotional campaign will not only make Goheung more familiar to Koryoin youth from Central Asia, but also have a positive impact on attracting more family tourists and increasing demand for extended stays in the future.

An official from the county’s tourism policy office stated, “We hope that Koryoin youth with overseas roots will remember Goheung as an attractive travel destination as they learn about and experience Korea. We will continue to promote Goheung tourism both domestically and internationally by utilizing a variety of media and channels.”

Meanwhile, Goheung County is actively conducting promotional activities to become a global tourism city that transcends generations and borders, based on its unique tourism content that encompasses space, aviation, wellness, and marine tourism.
