The 12th Citizen Auditors consist of a total of 43 individuals who were selected through a public recruitment process at the end of last year. These citizens possess professional qualifications and extensive practical experience in three fields: administration and welfare, green spaces and environment, and construction and transportation.

From January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027, they will participate for two years in comprehensive audits of major institutions in Daegu, including district and county offices, as well as public corporations and agencies. Their role will be to identify illegal or unjust cases across all administrative areas and to propose necessary improvements from the perspective of citizens.

In addition, they will provide suggestions for improving anti-corruption systems, serve as integrity ambassadors to promote Daegu City's outstanding integrity policies externally, and take the lead in spreading a culture of integrity.

Kim Sujong, Chairperson of the Daegu City Audit Committee, stated, "The participation of each Citizen Auditor, who possesses expertise in their respective fields, will greatly enhance our ability to oversee city administration more broadly. We will realize fair audits from the citizens' perspective and build a Daegu City government that earns public trust."

Meanwhile, since its introduction in 2003, the Daegu Citizen Auditor system has contributed to expanding citizen participation in audit activities and establishing transparent administration. Over the past two years, the 11th Citizen Auditors participated in audits of 13 institutions, including district and county offices and public corporations, enhancing the professionalism and transparency of audit administration. They also contributed to the development of city governance by submitting a total of 109 suggestions for institutional improvement and reports on citizen inconveniences.
