Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that singer Kang Aerija has been appointed as the city's first Honorary Cultural Ambassador.

Kang debuted in 1975 as a member of "Little Star Family" and is the original singer of the song "Pink Lipstick." According to the city, as a Siheung resident, she has consistently participated in volunteer activities in Turtle Island-dong and has been dedicated to serving the local community.
Going forward, Kang will be responsible for enhancing Siheung's cultural value by promoting the city's major cultural events and festivals and participating in the production of promotional content for municipal administration.
With this appointment, the city plans to foster broad consensus across generations, from the 7080 generation to Millennials & Gen Z, and to effectively promote its diverse cultural resources both domestically and internationally.
Im Byungtaek, Mayor of Siheung City, stated, "I hope that Kang will serve as a bridge to widely promote Siheung's appeal, building on the positive influence she has demonstrated through talent donations and volunteer work."
Meanwhile, the city also plans to appoint singer Jinwook, who made it to the final Top 7 on TV Chosun's popular competition program "Mr. Trot 2," as an additional Honorary Cultural Ambassador on the 28th.
